Our Gratitude

BASIK recognizes your ongoing contributions to our city and would like to express our gratitude for your emotional and monetary contribution to the concept, event, and creation, which will benefit thousands of children, families, and individuals for generations.

Partnerships:

We have been successful in building a strong partnership with the City of Kenosha Parks Department to facilitate the building of a state-of-the-art Skate park in Kenosha at Anderson Park. A memorandum of understanding was approved by the City Parks Commission on April 11th to allow the design process to begin.

Strategy:

The Kenosha Parks Department and BASIK have committed to $30,000 in total for the site design. The construction of this park will cost about $400,000, and the City of Kenosha has committed to contributing $200,000 toward the project if BASIK is able to raise $200,000 privately. Once the Skate park is constructed, the Kenosha Park Department will oversee the management, safety and maintenance of the park. BASIK will also be responsible for developing a maintenance operations fund.

The park will offer roughly 20,000 square feet of amenities and have an appealing plaza atmosphere and include course appropriate for range of age groups and skill levels.

The immediate financial need:

Over the past two years, we have been successful in raising enough money to contribute $15,000 toward the creation of a design, which was matched by the City of Kenosha Parks Department. The next step is to raise about $200,000 over the next 12 months, which will be needed to construct the Skate park. This amount will also be matched by the City of Kenosha Parks Department. Our formal fundraising caompaign was launched on April 28th, 2005.

The long-term financial need:

Our long-term goal is to create an endowment to fund maintenance of the structure indefinitely.
