6.Who will run and maintain the park?
The Kenosha Parks Department will oversee management, safety and maintenance issues. The Kenosha skate park will be operated similar to the Washington Bowl skate park.
7. Is the city liable for any injuries caused at the park?
The Kenosha Skate park is a city park and will assume the same liabilities as all other parks and playgrounds in the city. The design of the park will have a fence around the entire site so as to minimize any injuries. Rule and Regulations will be posted at the site. Every effort will be made in planning to provide a safe useable environment for skateboarders and inline skaters.
8.Why can't the skateboarders use the Washington Bowl Skate Park?
The Washington Bowl park was built by the city in 1992 and is fundamentally inadequate. Washington Bowl is to small, flat and easy for today's skateboarders. It is great to have the Washington Skatepark and perhaps after building a new skatepark, funds can be raised to improve this park. Even if Washington Skatepark was improved, the notion that it could adequately serve the needs of the thousands of skateboarders in Kenosha is akin to telling all the baseball players in Kenosha that they only have one diamond on which to play.
9. Who will make the decisions on its location?
A site Sub-Committee of the BASIK skate park committee will use a set of criteria to make the site decision that will then be approved by the Mayor and the Kenosha City Council.
10. How will the decision be made on where to locate the park?
A site Sub-committee will hold meetings for the public to comment on possible sites and the site will be voted on the Kenosha City Council.
